노트북에 윈도우 7 설치 후 며칠 운영하면서 다양한 테스트를 해봤다. 드라이버도 모두 올려보았고, 사용해보려는 응용프로그램도 모두 설치하다가 갑자기 멈춤 현상이 발생했다. 아이고, 아직 베타구나, 어쩔 수 없지, 하면서 포기하다가 오기도 생기고, 실제 운영해보면서 글도 쓰고 싶은 욕심에 두번째 설치를 하게 되었다.
응용프로그램 설치 후 멈춤 현상의 원인은 찾았고, 장본인은 MSN (버전 9.0)이다. 좀 황당. 더 황당한 것은 언인스톨이 안된다는 거다. 몇개의 오류가 뜨면서 아직도 존재하고 있고, 안전모드로 부팅 후 과거 시점으로 복원 시킨 후 정상이다. 그밖에 다른 문제는 일어나지 않았고, 네이트온은 정상설치 되었다.

인터넷 떠도는 기사에 의하면, 윈도우 7 제품군은 올 하반기에 출시 예정이라고 한다. 관련해서 제품 라인업이 발표 되었는데 총 6종으로 나왔다. 
주요 특징을 살펴보면, 윈도우 7 를 넷북으로 쓰려고 한다면, 스타터와 홈베이직이 준비되어 있다고 전한다.
여러 자료에 의하면 '홈 버전' 으로 넷북에 적합한 제품이라고 말하곤 있는 듯 하다. 다른 뉴스에 의하면 제품군중에 스타터, 홈 베이직은 개발도상국으로 고안된 버전이라고 말한다. 넷북으로는 어떤 제품으로 나올 지 궁금하기도 하다.

One of the more interesting innovations in the original version of Windows Vista was a feature called Windows Anytime Upgrade, which allowed users of the Windows Vista Home Basic, Home Premium, and Business editions to upgrade to a higher-end version electronically. Pricing of these upgrades was, of course, significantly reduced over purchasing a retail Upgrade box, making the service both thriftier and less complicated.

밤새 삽질이란 삽질은 다 하고.. 결국 VAIO P 에서 Windows 7을 삭제 하기로 결정 했습니다. 위에 보시는 바와 같이.. Windows Vista 에서는 3점대 체험지수가 나오는데, Windows 7 에서는 1.2밖에 나오질 않네요. 물론 언인스톨 하게 된 것은 체험지수 때문만은 아닙니다.

Windows 7 을 선택했던 이유

먼 저.. 처음에 Windows 7 설치를 결심했던 이유는 바이오P의 VGA카드에서 지원하는 동영상 재생 가속 기능을 XP에서는 지원하지 않아 Vista 이상의 Windows를 사용해야 했던 이유가 가장 컸습니다. 그리고 두번째 이유는 바로 완전 버벅대는 비스타의 무거움 때문이었죠.

Over the past few years, I've felt like the lone voice in the wilderness trying to communicate that Windows Vista wasn't as horrible as people had heard. Indeed, for the first year of that OS's existence, Microsoft was largely mum, and it wasn't until the software giant fixed the few real problems with Vista in Service Pack 1 (see my review) that the company finally turned its attention to marketing the fact that, yes, Windows Vista was actually quite good, thank you very much.

요즘은 컴퓨터 한대만을 소유한 것이 아니라 노트북 또는 넷북 또한 갖고 있는 사람이 많다. 자기 방에서는 컴퓨터를 주로 쓰고 이동 중이나 거실에서 노트북을 사용하는 환경은 이제 일부만의 호사가 아닐  것이다. 필요와 편리성 때문에 두 개 이상의 PC를 사용하게 되는데, 한 가지 아쉬운 점은 폴더·파일 싱크를 어떻게 할 것인가? 일 것이다. 즉, 거실에서 노트북으로 작업한 내용이 컴퓨터에도 반영되도록  하려면 어떻게 할 것인가?

노트북에서 복사 한 후 컴퓨터로 복사?

... 더 편한 방법이 있다.

Windows 비스타와 세븐에서는 mklink라는 명령어를 통해서 심볼릭 링크 또는 하드 링크를 생성할 수 있지만 XP에서는 지원되지 않아 매우 아쉬운 점이 있다. 그렇지만 윈볼릭링크(WindbolicLink)라는 서드파티 프로그램 이용해서 XP에서도 얼마든지 이들 링크류들을 생성할 수 있다. 일단 비스타와 세븐에서 지원하는 mklink를 살펴보자면, MkLink로는 심볼릭 링크(SYSLINKD)와 하드 링크(JUNCTION, 정션)을 만들 수 있는데, 기술적인 내부 메카니즘에 대해서는 배우기(Mr.Learn)가 확인해 보지 않았지만 SYSLINKD는 Windows의 바로가기에 JUNCTION은 하드링크가 가까운 것으로 생각이 된다. 다르게는 이들은 일종의 특수한 디렉터리(Derectory)라고 생각하면 쉽다.

윈도우 7 소식이 쏟아져 나오고 있다. 제품별 가격은 얼마일거고, 다양한 제품으로 출시하지 않고 2종의 제품으로만 나올거다. 올 하반기에 나올 것이며, 넷북에도 탑재 할 거라도 제품까지 나온곳도 있다.
관심밖에 제품에서 관심품목으로 바뀐듯 하다. 물론 저도 마찬가지다.
윈도우 XP => 윈도우 7 업그레이드가 될 수 있다는 기사도 나왔다.

In Windows 95, Microsoft introduced the Windows Taskbar, commonly called the taskbar, as a way to manage open applications and other windows. It was a response to people's increased ability and need to multitask in Windows, as previous versions of the OS provided no ready visual indication of how many windows were currently available. (Unless they were minimized, that is: Minimized windows appeared as buttons on the bottom of the Program Manager screen.)

For the last week the Microsoft world was abuzz with commentary regarding UAC settings in Windows 7.  In Windows Vista, User Account Control (UAC) was far too annoying. To make Windows 7 better to use the number UAC prompts were greatly reduced. However, many testers believed too many UAC prompts were removed. Specifically UAC prompts surrounding UAC settings. If a user ran malicious code it could secretly turn off UAC entirely without the user even knowing.  Microsoft argued the user already downloaded and ran malware on the computer so it was already infected. However, many believed that by protecting UAC it would limit more damage.

위의 이미지는 그리 중요한 것은 아니지만 배우기(Mr.Learn)가 사용하는 PC의 화면(왼쪽 1920 x 1200과 오른쪽 1600 x 1200)을 캡처한 것이다. 이제는 듀얼 모니터(Dual Monotor)의 사용자도 상당수 증가해서 특별한 경우도 아닐 것이다. 개인적으로도 Windows 7에서의 듀얼 뷰(Dual View)의 새로운 기능을 기대했지만 아직은 찾아 볼 수 없다. 설치한 것은 Adobe Photoshop CS4(XP 서비스팩 3/비스타 서비스팩 1 이상)이고, 오피스 2007, 마이크로소프트 VPC, 구글 크롬, 파이어폭스, 한글(HWP), 노턴 360 베타 3.0, 원격 접속 터미널 putty 등에 불과하지만 특별히 문제가 발생하는 경우는 없었다.

책상위에서 Windows 7 Beta DVD가 굴러다니길래 (저번주에 MS 갔을 때 받아온거) HP 2133 Mini 넷북에 Windows 7 설치를 감행했습니다. 이 HP 2133 으로 말씀드릴 것 같으면.. 1.6GHz 의 VIA C7-M CPU가 장착되어 있고 램은 2GB, HDD는 120GB, VIA Chrome 9 온보드 VGA가 장착된 모델입니다.
언뜻 보면 넷북치고 사양이 괜찮아 보이지만, VIA의 C7-M CPU는.. (개인적인 사용 소감으로는) 정말 수뤠기같은 CPU로, 기본적으로 넷북 구매시 설치되어 나온 Windows Viats Home Basic은 도저히 돌릴 수가 없고, Windows XP로 셋팅을 해야 그나마 간단한 작업은 할 수 있을 정도의 퍼포먼스가 나오는 악명높은 프로세서 입니다.
